Raisa Tolchinsky’s poetry explores the wisdom of the body and what it means to listen imaginatively. She is the author of Glass Jaw (Persea Books, 2024), winner of the 2023 Lexi Rudnitsky First Book Prize, with work also appearing in Boston Review, Kenyon Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, and other publications. She has brought improvised typewriter poetry to settings ranging from college campuses to hospital waiting rooms. Raisa holds an MFA from the University of Virginia and an MRPL from Harvard Divinity School, where she also served as Creative Writing Specialist. In 2022–2023, she was the George Bennett Writer-in-Residence at Phillips Exeter Academy. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Indiana University.
She is a partner, daughter, sister, friend-- an Italian speaker, lover of long walks and cold swims, and a forever student.
